Home News & Events Crime and Punishment at Shrewsbury Prison
As our year seven students are currently studying the topic crime and punishment the History department planned a visit to the famous Shrewsbury prison and escape rooms. Some year eight students also went along for teachers to assess their progress made when completing the topic. A small group of year eleven students were also asked if they would like the opportunity to attend the visit, to act as buddies for the younger students that can struggle at times with visiting new places.
The students really enjoyed the prison tour as it gave them a real insight into prison life throughout the Georgian and Victorian times. Students also got to learn about the ghost that haunts the corridors of the prison. Students ended the day with experiencing the prisons escape rooms. Throughout this Students used a multitude of skills to escape. Teamwork, resilience, listening skills and problem-solving skills were vital skills demonstrated in successfully escaping in time! Everyone involved in the day had a great time and behaved impeccably. This was reflected in the comments from the prison officers as we left to return to school, who stated that the students were a credit to our school.
