Home Family Support – School Liaison

Hello, my name is Lucy Wickstead, and I am the Family Liaison Officer at Smallbrook School.

Part of my role is to offer support and advice for parents and carers who may be considering a placement at our amazing school. Those thinking of placing at the school are welcome to give me a call to discuss any questions or queries they may have about the admissions process or to book in a potential school visit, so that those interested can explore our pretty unique school and speak with staff and students about life at Smallbrook.

My day to day role is to provide pastoral support to parents and carers and to help with any issues that you may have in relation to supporting a student, both at home and in school.

I work to encourage parental communication and involvement within school, refer and signpost to agencies (where appropriate) and support all students from the very start of their journey with the school. additional to this,  I have knowledge and access to several local and national agencies who may be able to provide support for you and your family as and when needed.

I work closely with the SENCo and clinical team within Smallbrook, liaising with all school staff where necessary and appropriate in the best interests of the students and their families or the adults that support them. Should you have a personal concern or school related issue concerning any student, I am here to offer support.

I look forward to getting to know you all and working together to make all of our students time at Smallbrook School is a happy and successful one.

Support after 3

As a school we are extremely passionate about supporting our students and the adults in their lives on a holistic level. We as a school, know  and understand the many difficulties parents may come up against on a daily basis, from getting initial diagnosis, financial pressures of raising a child with additional needs or realising the emotional impact these pressures and battles can have on a family unit.
