Since the start of term, 14 students have taken part in volunteering at a pop-up shop in Telford called Nu2U Telford, owned by teacher Lee Ellis. The pop up shop was set up the shop in 2017 and since joining Smallbrook School, Lee has been able to open the shop with the students from the school. The aim of the shop is to give away free clothing and toiletries to the community. We have had a busy start and the students have been very eager to take part. There have been 4 openings since September 2021. Lee is very proud to announce that in those 4 openings, over 1500 items have been donated to the community. Students are very keen to take part and there is a big list of students eager to take part this year. Our students even managed a Christmas dance with some customers. Lee is hoping to open at least 4- 5 times this academic year and take more new students to show them how important the act of giving is. The feedback from customers and the manager of Meeting Point House has been very positive. We have also linked with a charity called K22, where some clothing which has been donated has been sent to Ghana in Africa to help children from poor backgrounds.
We are so proud of the work of the students, well done.
