Smallbrook School Launches Skill Up – Preparing Students for Adulthood

Smallbrook School is proud to launch Skill Up, an exciting new programme designed to equip our students with the practical life skills they need to thrive in adulthood.

Skill Up focuses on 100 essential skills that every student will have the opportunity to achieve by the time they leave school. These skills cover a wide range of everyday tasks – from making a hot drink and using a washing machine, to creating a shopping list and following a budget.

To motivate and celebrate progress, skills are recognised at four achievement levels:

🥉 Bronze – Getting started and developing confidence in basic skills.

🥈 Silver – Building on foundations to show increasing independence.

🥇 Gold – Demonstrating consistent, confident application of skills.

💎 Platinum – Mastering skills to the point of independence and readiness for life beyond school.

With dedicated support from our staff team, students will take on these challenges as part of their personal learning journey. Every completed skill will be evidenced through photos, checklists, or demonstrations – building a portfolio that students can take with them into the future.
