World book day March 2025

Smallbrook School staff and students had an amazing day celebrating World Book Day. The World Book Day theme was ‘ Animal stories’. The students dressed up as their favourite story characters on the day. They participated in fun activities including the world book day quiz, storytelling (where students and teachers read a story in a bell tent or outside),  face painting, treasure hunting and book cover designing.

The special visitor ‘Stella Yardley’ came to visit the school. She runs ‘The Farm on Wheels ‘ which is a mobile farm that brings a trailer of friendly farm and pet animals to schools. The students had hands-on interaction with the farm animals, it was educational, fun and therapeutic. The students had the opportunity to stroke a donkey and walk a goat or rabbit on a lead! They loved the pet rat walking across their hand or down their arm!  They also loved stroking the Guinea pigs too. Students and staff won prizes for the best fancy dress, the best storyteller and the person with the most dojo reading points.

It was a wonderful day for all the young people and staff.
