ELSA Support at Smallbrook

At Smallbrook, we have a designated Emotional Literacy Support Assistant. ELSA support in schools is a project designed to help schools support the emotional needs of their pupils.

Kim is our ELSA support assistant within school, she strives to make our students feel happy and to reach their potential socially, emotionally, and academically. Her aim is to work alongside the teaching team and SENCO department to understand the barriers to learning that some of our students may have and helps them overcome these.

ELSA sessions explore a student’s emotional development, identifying possible strategies that can help them cope with life’s challenges. ELSA sessions are not to fix problems but to help students find their own solutions and to offer that important support.
