Home News & Events ASDAN CATHEDRAL ACTIVITY
As part of the ASDAN qualification, some of our year 11 students chose to complete the challenge of researching a place of worship. They decided as a group to visit Shrewsbury Cathedral, where they spoke with the Cathedrals tour guides to find out about the history of the cathedral, how the cathedral has made a positive difference to the local area. Students really immersed themselves in the history of the Cathedral, they learnt about Margaret Rope, the British stained glass artist, who was famous in the Arts and Crafts movement, in the first four decades of the 20th century. Her work was notable for the intensity and skill of the painting and the religious fervour underpinning it.
Once they had competed the challenge of researching into the Cathedral, all students returned to school to plan and present their findings to the class. Well done to all involved.
